Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for Civilians #1133
This course, also known as STEP, is prescribed by Florida Statute s. 316.640 and is designed as an overview of the knowledge and skills required to fulfill the responsibilities and duties of a civilian traffic accident investigator, also known as a traffic crash investigator. Even though individuals must successfully complete this course to perform the duties of a traffic crash investigator, the Commission does not certify these individuals. Furthermore, additional training is recommended to perform other duties not encompassed in this course, such as traffic control and first aid. This course will explain the legal, investigative, and follow-up aspects of responding to traffic crashes, which traffic crash investigators must comprehend as employees of police departments, sheriffs offices, or the Florida Highway Patrol.

Crisis Intervention Training for School Resource Officers, Specialized Course. This specialized course mirrors the nationally recognized Memphis Model. It prepares the SRO to respond immediately to a student in crisis. Officers will learn about common mental health and behavioral issues, de-escalation techniques, involuntary commitment, and supporting students as they re-enter school after treatment. Crisis intervention training is required for all SROs under s.1006.12(1)(c), F.S. This course is intended to help fulfill that need.
