Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) Release
For adult students, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) Release provides for the confidentiality of student education records. The technical colleges may not disclose educational information nor permit inspection of a student’s education records without the written permission of the student unless such actions are covered by certain exceptions as stipulated in FERPA.
Money-back Guarantee Program
House Bill 1507 establishes Section 1011.803, Florida Statutes, mandating that each school district and Florida College System (FCS) institution implement a money-back guarantee program. This program is required to encompass a minimum of three specific workforce education programs, ensuring that students who are unable to secure employment in their field of study within six months post-completion are eligible for a refund of their tuition.
The School District of Lee County is dedicated to providing a tuition money-back guarantee to eligible graduates from the following programs: Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Electronic Technology, Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair Technician, and the Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer. This guarantee applies to graduates who are unable to obtain employment in their respective fields within six months of completing their studies. It is important to note that the money-back guarantee covers tuition expenses only and does not encompass any additional costs related to participation in the Postsecondary Career and Technical Education program. Such additional costs may include, but are not limited to, lab fees, testing fees, supplies, or materials.
