John (Jack) Thomson Jr.
Law Enforcement & Equivalency of Training Officer
John (Jack) Thomson, Jr. is a veteran police officer with over thirty years of law enforcement experience ranging from New York City to Fort Myers, FL. He trained at the New York City Police Academy in 1980 and immediately began working with the NYCPD in both uniformed and undercover operations in mid-town Manhattan. Mr. Thomson was promoted to the rank of Detective and served the Central Robbery Units in Manhattan and Queens before joining the Technical Assistance Response Unit (T.A.R.U.). He is a recipient of numerous awards for excellence in police work as well as police officer and detective of the month. Mr. Thomson relocated to Florida and completed his Equivalency of Training Program in 2003 and began working with the Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD). He is a member of the FMPD Honor Guard and FMPD Hostage Negotiations Unit. He was awarded the Life Saving Medal in 2004, Exceptional Service Medal in 2005, and an Honorable Service Medal in 2006.
